What Are 'Rotary-Forged' Wheels?
Also referred to as flow-forming/ forging, spun forging, or hybrid forging, rotary-forging is an advanced hybrid manufacturing process used in the creation of 2Forge ZF6 Rotary-Forged Wheels.
The process begins with low-pressure casting, used to form the wheel face and the initial part of the barrel. Unlike traditional casting, where the entire wheel is cast, rotary-forging only casts the face, leaving a shortened, thickened barrel for the next phase.
The second stage involves the forging process, where the wheel is spun on a rotary machine. With the application of heat and pressure, the thickened barrel is stretched to its final size and shape, resulting in a wheel that is both lightweight and strong. This process enhances the barrel’s structural integrity while keeping the overall weight to a minimum, making rotary-forged wheels an excellent choice for performance-oriented drivers.
Rotary-forged wheels offer an ideal middle ground between standard cast wheels and fully-forged wheels. They deliver significantly better strength and quality compared to regular cast wheels, while remaining more affordable than fully-forged options. This makes rotary-forged wheels a great choice for those seeking enhanced performance without the higher cost of fully-forged alternatives.
