Product Description

The KMP Tripod Joint Driveshafts are a motorsport-focused driveshaft upgrade for compatible BMW F8X M platforms, including the BMW F80 M3, F82 M4, F83 M4 Convertible, F87 M2 and F87 M2 Competition. Designed for track use, endurance racing and high-power builds, they replace the factory CV-joint design with a high-efficiency tripod joint system.

The tripod joint design provides efficient torque transfer with reduced internal friction, helping deliver smoother and more consistent power transmission during sustained high-load use. The compact, lightweight construction also helps reduce rotating mass, making these driveshafts well suited to high-grip, aerodynamic and tuned BMW M builds.

Unlike sealed CV joints, the KMP tripod joints are fully serviceable, allowing them to be disassembled, inspected and maintained as part of a motorsport running schedule. Needle-bearing tripod rollers help reduce friction and heat generation, supporting durability and reliability during demanding track and endurance use.

These driveshafts are particularly suited to rear-wheel-drive applications, where the tripod joint operates within smaller articulation angles. Custom-length driveshafts are also available at no extra cost, with KMP able to supply a measurement shaft and spec sheet where precise fitment is required for non-standard builds.

Please note: these driveshafts require KMP-specific left and right differential flanges, which are sold separately. A pair of KMP differential flanges is required for installation to ensure the correct tripod joint interface, articulation, travel and lubrication depth.

Damaged Shipments

Returns must be authorised before sending anything back. Returns must be requested within 14 days of delivery and returned within 14 days of approval, in unused/uninstalled condition and in original packaging. Some items, including special-order, built-to-order, used, installed, or modified parts, are non-returnable.
