Product Description

The AP Racing Pro 5000R Front Brake Kit (378x36mm) for the BMW E9X M3 platform is a serious braking upgrade developed for fast road, track day and motorsport applications. Built around AP Racing's renowned Pro 5000R six-piston forged aluminium calipers, the system delivers exceptional stopping power, improved pedal feel and significantly increased thermal capacity over the factory braking system.

Using large 378x36mm two-piece front discs, lightweight aluminium bells and precision-engineered mounting hardware, the kit substantially improves heat management and braking consistency during repeated heavy braking. The larger disc diameter and motorsport caliper design increase braking torque and resistance to brake fade, making the system ideally suited to demanding track environments and high-performance road use.

Customers can choose between genuine AP Racing discs/rotors or a more cost-effective aftermarket two-piece disc/rotor option. At Clubsport Garage we have extensively tested the aftermarket rotor assemblies on our own F87 M2 Competition track car with excellent results in terms of performance, durability and consistency. Several customers previously running AP Racing rotor assemblies have also moved to the aftermarket setup and reported similarly positive results, making them a compelling option for customers looking to reduce long-term running costs without compromising braking performance.

AP Racing Pro 5000R calipers do not utilise dust seals. This motorsport-focused design allows reliable operation at significantly higher temperatures than conventional road calipers. Vehicles used regularly on the road may require more frequent inspection and cleaning, particularly during harsh weather conditions.

An optional anti-rattle pad retention spring kit is available separately for customers wanting to minimise brake pad movement and reduce unwanted noise during everyday driving.

Caliper Options

CP9660 Pro 5000R
The standard six-piston forged aluminium caliper, offering exceptional braking performance, pedal feel and thermal management for fast road, track day and motorsport use. The CP9660 utilises an 18mm pad thickness, providing excellent performance while maintaining a compact package and reduced unsprung mass.

CP9668 Endurance Pro 5000R
An endurance-focused six-piston forged aluminium caliper designed around increased pad volume and improved heat management during prolonged heavy braking. The CP9668 utilises a larger 25mm pad thickness, increasing available friction material for improved heat capacity, extended pad life and reduced service intervals during intensive track use or endurance applications.

FAQs

What is the difference between CP9660 and CP9668 calipers?
The CP9660 uses an 18mm pad thickness and offers excellent performance across fast road and track use. The CP9668 Endurance uses a larger 25mm pad thickness, increasing friction material volume for improved heat management, longer pad life and reduced maintenance during prolonged heavy track use.

What is the difference between AP Racing and aftermarket disc options?
Both options provide excellent braking performance. The aftermarket disc assemblies have been extensively tested and provide a more cost-effective solution with reduced long-term running costs. Genuine AP Racing discs remain available for customers wanting an OEM AP Racing friction ring setup.

What disc patterns are available?
The discs are available in Grooved or J-Hook designs, allowing customers to choose their preferred braking characteristics.

Do the calipers have dust seals?
No. These are motorsport-grade calipers designed for high-temperature track use and therefore do not utilise dust seals. This improves heat tolerance but may require more regular inspection and cleaning when used on road vehicles.

Are the discs supplied assembled?
Yes. The disc assemblies are supplied fully assembled with bells and mounting hardware already installed, simplifying installation.

Are brake pads included?
No. Brake pads are supplied separately so you can choose the compound best suited to your driving style, with options available from Pagid, Endless, PFC and Ferodo.

Is this suitable for track use?
Yes. This system has been designed specifically for repeated heavy braking and prolonged high-temperature operation.

Shipping & Delivery

Dispatch Times

Most stocked items dispatch within 1–2 business days. Some products may have longer lead times due to special ordering, availability, or build times. If your order contains multiple items, they may be shipped together once all items are ready unless otherwise agreed.
