Product Description

AST 5300 Motorsport coilovers for the listed BMW G20/G21 M340i, G22 M440i and G42 M240i applications combine adjustable ride height with independent rebound, low-speed compression and high-speed compression adjustment. Rear-wheel-drive and xDrive versions use separate kits and must be selected to match the vehicle.

AST coilover technical overview

Damper design & adjustment: The system uses rebuildable high-pressure monotube dampers with inverted front struts and external reservoirs. Separate low-speed and high-speed compression controls are located on the reservoirs, with an independent rebound adjustment. The compression ranges refer to damper velocity rather than road speed, giving separate control over different suspension inputs.

Mounting, supplied equipment & reservoirs: Springs and camber-adjustable front top mounts are included, with rear mounting provision following the application-specific kit specification. Front camber adjustment acts on alignment and is separate from the three damper controls. Ride height is set through the spring platforms; changing a damping setting does not change the spring rate. Drop links are included with both drivetrain versions. RAC-B2022SD is the rear-wheel-drive kit and RAC-B2024SD is the xDrive kit for the applications listed. The external reservoirs require secure mounting and hose routing that remains clear throughout steering and suspension travel. Reservoir mounting brackets are optional accessories rather than standard kit contents.

Installation & setup: For factory Electronic Damper Control applications, Clubsport Garage recommends coding out EDC when fitting non-electronic coilovers, where supported. A compatible KW EDC cancellation kit provides a separately available hardware alternative. The replacement dampers remain manually controlled. Final installation should include ride-height and alignment setup and checks for wheel, tyre and hose clearance at the selected height.

Do low-speed and high-speed compression refer to vehicle speed?

No. They refer to the speed of damper movement. Both can be relevant at the same road speed when the suspension encounters different inputs.

Are reservoir mounting brackets included?

No. Reservoir mounting brackets are optional accessories. The installation needs secure reservoir positioning and hose clearance throughout steering and suspension movement.

Can the dampers be serviced?

Yes. The 5300 uses rebuildable dampers. Follow AST's servicing guidance for the vehicle and its use.

Import Duties & International Orders

Damaged Shipments

If your parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery or note the damage with the courier. If damage is discovered after opening, contact us immediately with photos. Do not install damaged items, as installation voids courier claims and return eligibility.

Returns

Returns must be authorised before sending anything back. Returns must be requested within 14 days of delivery and returned within 14 days of approval, in unused/uninstalled condition and in original packaging. Some items, including special-order, built-to-order, used, installed, or modified parts, are non-returnable.

Fitment & Installation

Many products are aftermarket components and may require professional installation or minor adjustment. Perfect OEM-level fitment cannot be guaranteed. Professional installation by an experienced workshop is strongly recommended. Installed or used items cannot be returned.
