Why Upgrade?
OEM Limitations
The factory BMW S58 intake system uses restrictive plastic pipes, small turbo inlets (61mm and 72mm), and limited cold-air feed paths via the lower sections of the airboxes. This creates a bottleneck, raising Intake Air Temperatures (IATs) and increasing pressure drop – both of which reduce performance and throttle response, especially in tuned cars.
The Heat Soak Problem
On track or during extended spirited driving, elevated IATs force the ECU to reduce power output to protect the engine. An enclosed intake is crucial to controlling these temperatures, but the OE design’s small volume and restricted airflow make it inefficient for high-power builds.

Fully Enclosed, High-Volume Carbon Fibre Airboxes
do88’s design uses large 7.8-inch carbon fibre airboxes, shaped to maximise internal volume while retaining clearance for CSL strut braces. These are fully sealed to isolate intake air from hot engine bay air, ensuring only cold, dense air reaches the turbos. Additional fresh air feed openings behind the headlights increase airflow volume well beyond OE capacity.
Oversized Smooth Carbon Pipes
Replacing the restrictive OE plastic, the carbon pipes start at a massive 105mm (4.1") diameter at the air filter and taper smoothly to 3.25", eliminating sharp bends and turbulence.
High-Flow, Washable Cotton Filters
Custom-designed pre-oiled cotton filters with densely woven gauze deliver outstanding filtration without choking flow. They are fully serviceable for long-term performance – recommended cleaning every 20,000 km.
Custom-Cast Aluminium Turbo Inlets
do88 replaces the OE’s restrictive turbo inlets with precision-cast aluminium pieces featuring 83mm connections, improving flow into both OE and hybrid turbos. A unique adapter sleeve system ensures compatibility with popular turbo upgrades like Pure S58 STG2+ and TTE940, while a flat-flange sealing surface guarantees a secure fit.
