JQ Werks Madtrace GEN2 Formula Steering Wheel System – BMW F-Series

The JQ Werks Madtrace GEN2 Formula system brings a compact 290 mm motorsport steering wheel to compatible BMW F-Series models. Its 6061-T6 aluminium structure and high-grip rubber grips combine with programmable controls, an OLED Driver Information Display and RevLED shift lights.

Choose Control Hub Unit Only if you already have a compatible GEN2 Podium system installed, or Full Complete Kit for a first installation. Both selections include the integrated Formula wheel, display and single magnetic paddle pair. A separate MOMO rim or OLED accessory is not required.

Choose your configuration

1. Line-up: choose M2 / M3 / M4 for a vehicle factory equipped with M1 and M2 steering-wheel buttons. Choose Non-M for the supported vehicles without those buttons. Select by the original button equipment; M Sport trim or an M badge alone is not the deciding factor.
2. Transmission: choose Manual (MT) or Automatic (AT), matching the car. Automatic covers the supported automatic/DCT application.
3. Control Hub: Control Hub Unit Only supplies the Formula control assembly for your existing compatible Podium installation. Full Complete Kit adds the chassis-specific mounting, quick-release base, CAN-bus module and installation equipment needed for first installation.
4. Accessories: tick Add ENP finish kit for electroless nickel plated paddles, quick-release ring, knobs and hardware. Leave it unticked for the standard finish. This is an optional finish accessory, not an additional paddle pair.

Included controls and display

The Formula assembly includes the OLED display beneath the RevLED shift lights, eight front buttons, two joystick controls and one magnetic paddle per side. The paddles can be programmed for supported auxiliary functions on a manual car; they do not convert a manual gearbox to paddle shifting. JQ Werks does not list a dual-paddle selection for these Formula systems.

CAN-bus and LIN-bus integration support vehicle-dependent factory and race-control functions. MadtraceLAB and the display provide configuration access, while USB-C supports updates. Store up to three control profiles and switch between button maps and lighting preferences. Available commands and telemetry depend on the vehicle specification.

Hub only or complete kit?

Control Hub Unit Only: intended to pair with an existing compatible GEN2 Podium system. It is not a complete first-installation package and does not include a second set of the vehicle installation equipment.

Full Complete Kit: includes the Formula control unit, quick-release base with integrated chassis PCB, CAN-bus integration module, harness kit, resistor, adapter hub and locking wrench, trim-removal tool, hardware, Allen key and stickers.

Installation and use

For off-road, track, racing and competition use only. Not for road use. This system removes the factory airbag. JQ Werks requires a six-point racing harness and racing roll-bar; do not use it with factory three-point seat belts.
