Product Description

The Mosselman oil thermostat is designed for compatible BMW F-series models fitted with the N55 engine. Its thermostatic valve begins opening at 85°C, allowing engine oil to pass through the existing oil cooler earlier than the original thermostat. Mosselman reports an approximately 20°C reduction in operating oil temperature; actual results depend on vehicle and operating conditions.

The CNC-machined aluminium housing retains a functioning thermostat, rather than permanently bypassing oil-temperature regulation. Choose from Silver, Black, Red or Blue finishes, with optional Mosselman titanium hex bolts and an OEM BMW gasket option. The gasket option is fulfilled using Mosselman's installation kit, comprising an oil-filter-housing gasket and two oil-hose O-rings.

Mosselman specifies its N54-version thermostat for E-series 135i and 335i models fitted with the N55 engine; this F-series version is not the correct application for those vehicles.

FAQs

What does the 85°C specification mean?

The thermostatic valve starts to open at approximately 85°C. It is not a permanently open bypass.

Does this fit the M2 Competition?

No. The F87 M2 Competition uses the S55 engine and requires the separate S55 thermostat.

What is supplied with the OEM BMW gasket option?

Clubsport Garage supplies Mosselman's installation kit (030210012), containing one oil-filter-housing gasket and two oil-hose O-rings.

Are the titanium bolts included?

No. Mosselman titanium GR5 hex bolts (030210011) are selectable as a separate option.

Does it fit E-series N55 models?

Mosselman specifies the N54-version oil thermostat for the E-series 135i and 335i fitted with N55 engines.

Damaged Shipments

If your parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery or note the damage with the courier. If damage is discovered after opening, contact us immediately with photos. Do not install damaged items, as installation voids courier claims and return eligibility.

Returns

Returns must be authorised before sending anything back. Returns must be requested within 14 days of delivery and returned within 14 days of approval, in unused/uninstalled condition and in original packaging. Some items, including special-order, built-to-order, used, installed, or modified parts, are non-returnable.
