Product Description

The Nitron NTR R3 Coilover Kit is a motorsport-developed suspension upgrade for the BMW F87 M2 non-Competition, designed for drivers who want maximum damping control, chassis feedback and setup flexibility. Built for serious fast road, track day and race applications, the NTR R3 gives the original F87 M2 a major step up in grip, composure and confidence under load.

Unlike simpler coilover systems, the NTR R3 offers fully independent 3-way damping adjustment, with separate control for rebound, fast compression and slow compression. This allows the suspension to be tuned in detail around tyre choice, road surface, circuit conditions and driving style, giving greater control over braking stability, kerb response, corner entry, mid-corner balance and overall ride quality.

The kit is available with either remote reservoir or piggyback reservoir layout depending on specification. Remote reservoir kits include Bi-Axis hose fittings for flexible and reliable hose routing, while optional quick-connect dry break fittings allow the reservoirs to be relocated into the cabin or engine bay without fluid loss. This is particularly useful for serious track and race builds where adjustment access, protection and thermal management are important.

For the F87 M2 non-Competition, the NTR R3 is available in either True Rear or Divorced Rear configuration. The True Rear setup combines the spring and damper into one coilover unit for sharper response and increased setup flexibility, while the Divorced Rear option retains the factory-style separate spring and damper layout for a more traditional installation approach.

Nitron supplies the kit with carefully selected Fast Road or Track spring rate options. The Fast Road setup is ideal for spirited road driving with occasional track use, while the Track setup provides increased stiffness, reduced roll and greater control for more demanding circuit driving. Custom spring rates, spring lengths and damper lengths are also available on request.

Built around a high-performance monotube damper design, large-diameter pistons, precision internals and lightweight corrosion-resistant materials, the NTR R3 is engineered for consistent, fade-resistant damping under repeated high-load use. Each kit is hand-built to order by Nitron in the UK and is fully serviceable and rebuildable for long-term performance ownership.

This kit is suitable for the BMW F87 M2 non-Competition models produced from 2016-2018 only and is not suitable for the BMW F87 M2 Competition or M2 CS.

FAQs

Will the Nitron NTR R3 kit fit my BMW F87 M2?

Yes. This kit is designed specifically for the BMW F87 M2 non-Competition model produced from 2016-2018.

Will this fit the BMW F87 M2 Competition or M2 CS?

No. This version is for the original F87 M2 only. The BMW F87 M2 Competition and M2 CS require a different kit.

What makes the Nitron NTR R3 different from the NTR R1?

The NTR R3 offers fully independent 3-way damping adjustment, with separate control for rebound, fast compression and slow compression. This gives a wider setup range for serious track day, race and high-performance road builds.

What does 3-way damping adjustment mean?

3-way damping allows rebound, fast compression and slow compression to be adjusted independently. This gives greater control over chassis balance, kerb response, braking stability, grip and ride quality.

Should I choose True Rear or Divorced Rear?

The True Rear setup combines the spring and damper into one coilover unit and is often preferred for track-focused builds. The Divorced Rear setup keeps the factory-style separate spring and damper layout for a more traditional installation.

Should I choose Fast Road or Track spring rates?

The Fast Road setup is best for spirited road driving with occasional track use. The Track setup uses stiffer spring rates for increased grip, reduced roll and greater control during hard circuit driving.

What are Bi-Axis hose fittings?

Bi-Axis hose fittings are used on remote reservoir kits to allow more flexible and secure hose routing. They help reduce stress on the fittings and simplify installation in tighter areas.

What are quick-connect dry break fittings?

Quick-connect dry break fittings allow the remote reservoirs to be detached and relocated into the cabin or engine bay without fluid loss. They are useful for race cars or serious track builds where easier adjustment access and protection are important.

Is this kit suitable for road use?

Yes, particularly when specified with Fast Road spring rates. However, the NTR R3 is a motorsport-focused suspension system, so ride quality will depend on the selected setup, rear layout and spring rates.

Can the kit be customised?

Yes. Custom spring rates, spring lengths and damper lengths are available on request, allowing the kit to be tailored to specific vehicle setups, tyre choices and intended use.

Is the Nitron NTR R3 rebuildable?

Yes. The NTR R3 dampers are fully serviceable and rebuildable, making them a strong long-term suspension upgrade for road, track day and motorsport use.

How long does the kit take to arrive?

Each kit is hand-built to order by Nitron in the UK. Typical lead time is around 2–3 weeks, although this can vary depending on specification and availability.
